Rain Chain Gang

LA got a lot of rain in December. Which got us thinking about these rain chains we had seen since before even shopping for a house. After going to three different Target’s to track these down (because apparently rain season in LA does not correlate to rain items in stock) and (I am too impatient to order things online), we found the Smith and Hawken Rain Chime we had been looking for.

And in the pouring rain – we proceeded to put them up.

Gutter coming down….

And then I had to wait till morning to get some decent shots.

Here is the one we put out back.

And the one we put out front.

Because the water get’s left in the tulip after the rains stops, and we wanted to avoid stagnant water and weird worms making their home in them – Arn drilled a tiny hole in the bottom of each tulip to allow additional water drainage.

And that’s the story of our gang of rain chains.

Sorry for the lack of posts- we’ve been busy trying to vacation from DIY for a tiny bit- and enjoy what’s been done so far. But 2011 has brought us back to making to do lists and excitedly planning our next projects. We already made our appearance at HD three times this weekend, so things are back to normal around here.

How neat! I’ve only seen these in Japan. Are they common here too?

I don’t know how smart the person who invented the rain chains should be but you are so smart to find these different interesting things the existence of which I had no idea …
As they say: “The more you live the more you know”. So, continue your reseaches,
    what’s next…?

WOW! I would kill myself if it would be installed in my back yard! I would constantly want to go ppee… But I admire your creativity- horay!

What is next? I have a suggestion. You can buy another house and remodel it and make money and I am serious.

    Love you guys,
